Museum of Gardening

As we start work on renovating the Donkey Wheelhouse, we have rehomed the lawn mowers and edge trimmers that have been on display there for so long no-one can even remember why.

We have donated our collection to the Museum of Gardening at the South Downs Heritage Centre in Hassocks.

It’s quite dark inside the little wellhouse, but fortunately Clive Gravett’s drill had a built-in light as he soon discovered that the mowers were screwed into the wooden beams.
Here’s a selection of photos, starting with the spray pump collection that will remain on display on the walls, along with the William Wood copper knapsack sprayer. I’ve added a photo of the Museum of Gardening’s renovated version in the hope that we might be inspired to clean ours up to look as good.
