Horse Driving Trials
Stanmer Park has been host to the National Horse Driving for 30 years from 1980 -2010. It was usually the first national horse driving trials event of the season. The trials were in a beautiful setting and according to Inharness Magazine “It was a delight to drive the course. All the obstacles are in the public park and it’s completely free to watch.”
The event attracted an International field of competitors and included a gruelling cross country marathon. HRH Prince Phillip was a regular competitor at Stanmer Park.
